Harvest Fruit Mold

1 12-ounce package mixed dried fruits

1/4 cup sugar

1 6-ounce package orange-flavored gelatin

2 cups boiling water

1/2 cup dry sherry

Leaf lettuce Frosted Grapes

Preserved kumquats, halved lengthwise

In saucepan combine dried fruit and enough water to cover the fruit. Simmer gently, covered, for 25 minutes. Add sugar; simmer 5 to 10 minutes more. Drain fruit, reserving syrup. Add water to syrup to make 11/2 cups liquid. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Stir in reserved syrup mixture and sherry. Chill till partially set.

Pit prunes; cut up all cooked fruit. Fold into gelatin mixture. Pour into 6-cup ring mold. Chill till firm. Unmold on lettuce-lined platter. Fill center of mold with Frosted Grapes. Garnish with kumquat halves. Serves 8 to 10.

Frosted Grapes: Dip 1 1/2 pounds green grapes into 2 lightly beaten egg whites. Drain. Dip grapes in 1/2 cup sugar. Place on rack to dry for 2 hours.
